OREANDA-NEWS  Russia should use its existing competitive advantages in the form of oil and gas and not succumb to the well-intentioned green agenda. Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, made such an appeal, as quoted by Interfax.

During the plenary session, where the draft budget of the country for 2025, 2026 and 2027 was considered, the speaker of the lower house of parliament said that energy-related areas should be developed in the Russian Federation.

"And we often succumb to the trends not of fashion, but of imposed decisions on the part of our opponents. Moving away from these advantages in the energy sector, and where we have really cheap production due to nuclear energy, hydropower. We have advantages in both oil and gas, and, of course, we also need to take and design gas-powered cars there. And we go to autonomous sources, which are offered to us by those who do not have it," Volodin noted.

According to the politician, Washington, Brussels and the largest companies whose activities are directed against countries with reserves of natural resources are behind the promotion of the green transition.

During a speech at the BRICS Business Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia has "simply limitless" energy resources, including oil, natural gas and coal.

According to Alexander Smirnov, Deputy head of the State Commission on Mineral Reserves (GKZ), there will be enough gas reserves in Russia's fields for the next 90 years. Their volumes amount to 67 trillion cubic meters. Offshore oil reserves, according to the head of the Ministry of Energy Sergey Tsivilev, will last for 32 years.
