OREANDA-NEWS In the first half of March 2024, the average daily export of oil from Russia by sea increased by 9.4 percent compared to February and reached a level of 3.66 million barrels. This is reported by RBC with reference to statistical data from Kpler analysts.
Compared to the previous month, the indicator increased by 314 thousand barrels per day. This trend was influenced by a number of factors, including a decrease in refining volumes at local refineries (refineries).
Viktor Katona, senior analyst at Kpler oil markets, clarified that at the Nizhny Novgorod NORSI refinery, the indicator fell from 5.6 million barrels per day in January to 5.2 million barrels in February. Thus, the difference was about 400 thousand barrels. Drone attacks led to damage to equipment at Russian refineries, which forced domestic oil companies to redistribute the dropped volumes of raw materials in favor of export supplies, Kpler concluded.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that attacks by Ukrainian drones on Russian refineries led to a decrease in the processing of raw materials in the country by 600-900 thousand barrels per day. According to experts, such a situation could have an impact on global fuel markets.
