Russia and China Signed Off on the Construction of Two Nuclear Power Units
OREANDA-NEWS Russia and China signed a General contract for the construction of 7 and 8 power units of the Tianwan nuclear power station, and a contract for technical project units 3 and 4 nuclear power station "Sagapo". This is stated in the message of Rosatom.
The relevant contracts were signed in Beijing between the engineering division of the state Corporation Rosatom and the enterprises of CNNC Corporation.
In June 2018 Rosatom with the Chinese partners signed a framework contract about the serial construction of NPP power units "Sagapo" in China. The construction of two Russian-designed power units with VVER-1200 reactors is planned at the site of this nuclear power station. The document provides for the possibility of building new blocks in the future.
In addition, on November 6, the engineering division of Rosatom state Corporation and CNNC enterprises on the sidelines of China International Import Expo in Shanghai signed four Executive contracts for the construction of new units of the Tianwan nuclear power station - units 7 and 8. This allows the state Corporation to begin to develop documentation of the technical project and negotiate a General contract for the construction of the seventh and eighth units of the Tianwan nuclear power station.
The Tianwan nuclear power station is the largest object of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation. The first and second power units were launched in 2007, the third unit was launched in December 2017, the fourth in October 2018.
The Protocol on cooperation in the construction of the seventh and eighth units of the Tianwan nuclear power station was signed in early June 2018.
