OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he is discussing a drop in oil prices with partners in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the United States, who are also worried about a crisis in this sphere.

At a meeting with the government, Putin, together with the consequences of the spread of the coronavirus infection, mentioned falling oil prices as one of the main problems. “And of course, it is a drop in prices of our main export goods, a very significant, serious, deep drop. We are discussing this with colleagues both here, domestically, and at international level with our partners in OPEC; recently I discussed this issue with the President of the United States,” Putin said. “The Americans are also worried about this, because profitability of their shale oil production fluctuates, according to various estimates, around 40 dollars per barrel, so it is a challenge for the American economy too,” he added.
