Putin: Russia is One of the Guarantors of World Energy Security
OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the security Council instructed to increase the security of energy facilities from terrorist attacks, man-made accidents and other possible threats.
Thanks to impressive exports, Russia remains one of the main guarantors of world energy security, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Impressive exports, including to the European Union, the Asia-Pacific region, the CIS, bring Russia not only tangible revenues, but also allows it to remain one of the main guarantors of world energy security," Putin said at a meeting of the security Council of the Russian Federation.
He noted that Russia provides itself with energy resources.
"The unique reserves of all key energy sources give us the opportunity today to completely close domestic energy needs," Putin said.
Russia fixes unfair competition in the energy market, including a ban on the supply of modern equipment to the Russian fuel and energy sector and pressure on importing countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"The negative impact on the long — term development of the fuel and energy Sector have, as I said, attempts to unfair competition in the markets, including a ban on the supply to Russia of modern technologies and equipment for exploration and production of energy resources," Putin said at a meeting of the security Council.
He noted that "direct political pressure on the importing countries of Russian hydrocarbons is often used". According to the Russian leader, it is necessary to objectively assess both current and potential challenges facing the Russian energy sector.
"And on this basis to identify additional measures that will allow us to respond to such threats in a timely manner. The updated doctrine of Russia's energy security is aimed at solving these problems. Today we will discuss its project," Putin said.
He stressed that, once the doctrine was adopted, strategic planning documents would need to be brought into line with its provisions.
