OREANDA-NEWS. Power supply has been partially restored in Bishkek, AKIpress news agency reported.
The restoration of power supply in some areas of the capital Bishkek was also reported by local residents in the Bishkek Today Telegram chat room.
Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov said at about 16:00 local time (13:00 Moscow time) that it will take three to four hours for electricity to be fully restored in Kyrgyzstan, Tazabek reports.
"Already more than 50% of the population is connected. Our power engineers have shown that they are ready for such situations,"- Zhaparov said.
According to the Prime Minister, the accident occurred not on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, and a special commission will determine its cause.
The power outages in the three Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan became known the morning of January 25. These states have been united into one energy ring since Soviet times.
In Kazakhstan, the blackouts occurred in the southern regions, including Almaty, Taraz and Shymkent. In Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, Osh and the Issyk-Kul region were left without electricity. In Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Fergana Valley, Syrdarya, Samarkand and other regions were left without electricity.
The Uzbek Energy Ministry linked the power outages to a major breakdown in Kazakhstan's power grids. Kazakhstan, in turn, reported that the emergency power outage was caused by Uzbek and Kyrgyz power engineers.
