OREANDA-NEWS. Russian suppliers must compensate Poland for losses from supplies of polluted organochlorine oil to the country. This was announced on Tuesday by the head of the Polish government Mateusz Moravetsky. “Russian suppliers have made serious mistakes and must answer for them financially”, said the Polish Prime Minister at a press conference in Warsaw (quoted by Reuters).

In turn, the Ministry of Energy of Poland reported that the head of the department, Krzysztof Chorzewski, asked the Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak to take urgent measures to restore the supply of pure oil and compensate for the losses incurred. The Polish Ministry of Energy also noted that the refineries of the country continue to operate smoothly, thanks to the supply of oil by sea, as well as the use of reserves of raw materials. "There are no threats of interruptions in the supply of fuel to the domestic market," the Ministry of Energy stresses. In mid-May, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who oversees the fuel and energy complex, said that Transneft would pay compensation to everyone who "proves that they have real losses" due to polluted oil.

On May 20, the Western media reported that Total and Eni had suspended payments for oil coming in through the Druzhba pipeline because of its contamination with organo-organics. “Why should anyone pay for such oil at all?” Strictly speaking, it is not oil at all. And no one in the whole of Russia can clearly explain who will pay compensation to whom and when, ”said one of the news agency interviewees familiar with the situation.

It was also previously reported that the cessation of deliveries of Russian oil to Europe via the Druzhba pipeline shortly after the restoration of transit in Ukrtransnafta was explained by the need for additional technological operations.
