OREANDA-NEWS. Poland will not pay for Russian gas in rubles, said Piotr Naimsky, the government's authorized representative for strategic energy infrastructure. According to RIA Novosti, Naimsky did not specify whether there is any alternative to this proposal.
We will not pay for Russian gas in rubles, Naimsky said.
Earlier, Polish Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskva said that Warsaw is ready to give up Russian resources and intends to call on all EU countries for such a decision. According to her, at the next EU summit, Poland will come up with a proposal to introduce quotas and fees for the use of energy from Russia. She clarified that Poland will offer to introduce an analogue of ETS on Russian raw materials in order to stimulate the acceleration of the abandonment of Russian coal and gas.
Prior to this, Piotr Naimsky said that Poland plans to terminate previously concluded contracts for the supply of Russian oil. He noted that Polish refineries would suffer losses from such a step, since they receive 60% of their oil from Russia. Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Shimon Shinkovsky also said that Warsaw would ban gas and coal supplies from Russia in the coming months. According to him, the country's authorities are ready to take such a step, even if the EU decides differently.
