OREANDA-NEWS The Polish fuel concern Orlen is preparing to completely abandon Russian raw materials, Chairman of the Board of Orlen Irineus Fafara told the agency RAR.
"Polish refineries do not use raw materials from the east. When diversifying supplies, we rely on stable raw materials, but also take into account its properties, which allow us to get good results," Fanfara said.
He noted that Russian raw materials are currently used only at one Orlen oil refinery in the Czech Republic due to transport restrictions for the supply of other raw materials.
"Orlen Group is prepared to completely abandon Russian oil, which is currently processed only by the refinery in the Czech Litvinov. The key point is the expansion of the transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic, which is the main restriction for refusing to import Russian oil into this country," the chairman of the Management Board of the concern said.
He stressed that Orlen is already working on converting the Czech refinery to non-Russian oil. "Tests are being carried out at the Litvinov plant, during which mixtures of non-Russian raw materials are successfully processed. The second Czech plant owned by the Orlen Group, located in Kralupy, does not use Russian raw materials at all," Fanfara said.
In the spring of 2022, Poland completely refused to supply oil from Russia, without extending the contract with Rosneft and terminating the contract with Tatneft.
