Peskov Considers Purchase by Belarus of Oil from Norway as a Matter of Commercial Benefit

OREANDA-NEWS. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov explained the purchase of oil by Belarus from Norway as economic feasibility.
"This is a matter of economic feasibility. If this oil is obtained from Norway cheaper than Russian, of course, any country should act solely on the basis of its own interests," a Kremlin spokesman told reporters on Friday. In his opinion, "here we are talking about a clean economy, commercial benefits". "If this oil from Norway is cheaper, then yes", explained the principle of buying Sands.
About 86 thousand tons of oil purchased by Belarus in Norway were delivered to Klaipeda by the Norwegian tanker Breiviken on January 23. Next, the oil was sent to the customer at the oil refinery in Novopolotsk by rail. Transportation of the entire batch will take about two weeks. The last time oil was transported to Belarus in transit through Lithuania in 2017.
Deliveries of Russian oil to Belarusian refineries were stopped on January 1, as Moscow and Minsk did not conclude an agreement on the terms of supplies for this year. Deliveries were later partially resumed by Safmar Group companies. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed the government to work out alternative options. The authorities of the republic reported that they had sent proposals to the Baltic countries, Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
