OREANDA-NEWS Ukraine's decision to stop supplying Russian gas through its territory has been seen as an act of economic enslavement by the United States of the European Union, according to Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the Commission on Sovereignty of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and co-chair of the Coordinating Council for the Integration of New Regions.

He believes that this is a deliberate act of enslaving the European economy by the US through the hands of the puppet regime in Kiev. The Americans are trying to make European countries dependent on expensive liquefied natural gas from the US.

According to Rogov, this decision will have a significant impact on the economies of European countries, especially Germany. He also emphasized that Russia is currently reorienting its gas supplies towards eastern markets, particularly China, due to the current situation.

The agreement signed in 2019 on the transit of Russian gas to Europe via Ukrainian territory expired on December 31. Gazprom supplied about 15 billion cubic meters via this route in 2024, which accounted for 4.5% of total consumption in the EU. Throughout 2024, the Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly stated that they do not plan to extend the transit agreement. Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that there would be no more gas transit contracts through Ukraine.
