OREANDA-NEWS  Norilsk Nickel will begin testing domestic software for mining automation next year, the implementation is planned in 2026, Alexey Parasyna, Director of Industrial Automation and Metrology of the Information Technology Department of Norilsk Nickel, told RIA Novosti.

At the moment, Norilsk Nickel, through its subsidiary Norsoft, is developing, together with partners Reksoft and Atollis, three domestic digital solutions for optimizing and automating mining, namely Magma Geo, Magma Plan and Magma Control. So far, these are the first developments of Norilsk Nickel, which will be implemented within the framework of the Central Committee (Industrial Competence Centers for the replacement of foreign industry digital products and solutions), the company's manager clarifies. "This year we are finishing the development of the functionality and next year we will go out for real testing. Implementation in 2026," Parasyna replied to a question about the current status of the Magma product line development on the sidelines of Innoprom-2024. Norilsk Nickel's investments in projects for the CIC in the areas of metallurgy and ecology will amount to about 4.5 billion.

Parasyna believes that the support being worked out at the state level in the form of tax incentives, compensation for part of the funds spent on implementation, serve as a good incentive for both developers and companies making a choice in favor of domestic digital solutions.
