OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus and Russia have fixed the price of gas in rubles until the end of the year. Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Nazarov told journalists about this on Tuesday, April 19.
“Since April, the price of gas has absolutely not depended on the dollar exchange rate for us. We have signed an agreement between the Ministry of Energy and PJSC Gazprom on pricing. We have made changes to two intergovernmental agreements regarding the pricing mechanism. We have completely abandoned the dollar,” Nazarov said.
According to him, the gas price for Belarus will be "firm until the end of the year." He also noted that in the future, within the framework of the Union Treaty, a mechanism for setting gas prices for 2023 and subsequent years will be worked out.
“Today we have comfortable conditions, understandable and transparent,” Nazarov added.
On April 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow and Minsk should strengthen integration at a time when the West has unleashed an all-out sanctions war. The head of the Russian state assured that Russia and Belarus would continue to jointly oppose any attempts to slow down their development or artificially isolate them from the global economy.
On April 1, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov announced that by June 1 it is planned to completely abolish roaming between the Russian Federation and Belarus. He noted that relations between the two countries in various fields have reached an exemplary level of cooperation.
The fact that Belarus will start paying Russia for gas in Russian rubles became known on April 5.
