OREANDA-NEWS Moldova has received gas from Bulgaria via the Trans-Balkan corridor in a test mode, Vadim Cheban, acting head of Moldovagaz, said in his Telegram channel.

On December 31, 2024, the purchase of natural gas in Bulgaria was successfully carried out on the Balkan Gas Hub platform for Moldovagaz JSC. The amount of gas purchased is 240 MWh. The gas was transported through Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine to the point of the Caushana interconnection on the Moldovan border.

Cheban pointed out that Moldovagaz cannot be registered as a participant in the gas market in European countries. The Company has concluded a corresponding agency agreement with JSC Energocom.

Earlier, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian said that the energy crisis, which increased Pridnestrovie's dependence on Moldova, could contribute to solving the Pridnestrovian problem. According to him, Chisinau offered to provide Transnistria with gas supplies from alternative sources, but for this it will be necessary to pay a market price.

Prior to this, it was reported that Moldova switched to purchasing electricity from Romania after gas supplies from Russia were stopped, as a result of which the country's energy system stopped producing the required amount of energy.
