OREANDA-NEWS. By the end of January, Belarus plans to resume negotiations with Russia on gas supplies to the republic this year. This was announced to journalists on Thursday by the Minister of Energy of Belarus Viktor Karankevich. “We plan negotiations in January”, said the head of the Belarusian Ministry of Energy.
To a clarifying question from the Russian media, Karankevich said that he planned to hold talks with his Russian counterpart before the end of January. “There is enough gas, there is gas. Don't worry, our people will not remain without gas”, the Minister of Energy of Belarus assured.
Gazprom and Belarus on December 31 last year signed a protocol on gas prices for January - February 2020 and additions to contracts for transit and supply of fuel, extending them until 2021. According to the signed documents, the contractual volumes of deliveries and transit in 2020 were saved for the level of 2019. In January - February, Belarus will receive gas at the price of 2019 - $ 127 per 1 thousand cubic meters.
Earlier, Lukashenko said that in 2020 the country intends to purchase about 20 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia and 24-25 million tons of oil. It was planned to keep the price of gas at the current year level ($ 127 per 1,000 cubic meters).
