OREANDA-NEWS Lukoil's subsidiary Teboil will open four new gas stations in Finland, despite the sanctions, public broadcaster Yle reported on Friday.
"The Teboil gas station network plans to open four new gas stations in January. Gas stations will be located on the territory of existing self-service gas stations in Helsinki, Luumaki (south of Finnish Karelia - ed.), Oulu and Tuusula (north of Helsinki - ed.)," the article says.
According to Yle, sanctions have been imposed against Teboil, owned by Russian Lukoil, and since October 2022, Teboil has stopped importing and selling Russian oil at its gas stations.
According to Yle, Teboil's operating profit in 2021 amounted to more than 19 million euros, in 2023 it decreased to 210 thousand euros. However, according to Yle, the decline in profits did not prevent the company from opening new gas stations in 2024. This year, the company opened gas stations in Viitasaari in central Finland, in Simo in the northwest, in Lahti, Espoo and Inkoo in the south of the country.
Yle clarifies that some Teboil gas stations are managed by the central management, that is, Lukoil, and some by entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs rent a gas station from Teboil and are responsible for hiring staff, obtaining work permits for gas stations and concluding contracts with suppliers.
Finland in 1934, which Lukoil has owned since 2005.
Earlier, the Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the West made a serious mistake by refusing to buy energy resources from Russia, it will fall into a new, stronger dependence due to higher prices. Moscow stated that those who refused would still buy more expensive through intermediaries and would buy Russian coal, oil and gas.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people. Western countries themselves have repeatedly expressed the opinion that sanctions are ineffective.
