OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus and Russia may begin joint construction of a nuclear power plant in Egypt. This was announced on Friday by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Igor Orlov. He noted that he spoke a lot with the Arkhangelsk governor about Egypt, where both Belarusian and Russian specialists work.
"We are very friendly with President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. The Russian President has good relations with al-Sisi", Lukashenko said. "We will probably have a common construction site there. Russia, apparently, will build four nuclear power plants in Egypt". Meanwhile, the Belarusian leader complained that in the Russian Federation, "unfortunately or joyfully, high-class builders are gone".
“Rosatom is very pleased with our builders. We discussed the issue of joint construction. And this, by the way, was even before the BelaPP was built, so that we would get experience building here with the Russians, and then build nuclear blocks and stations around the world”, Lukashenko said.
