OREANDA-NEWS. Alternative fuels will not cost less than traditional, this opinion was expressed by Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Secretary of the State Council Igor Levitin at the international forum "Innovative technologies and intelligent transport systems in road construction".

Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Secretary of the State Council said that either the state will have to include road tolls in the cost of alternative fuels, or "the whole world will think about a radical reform of payments and fees for the use of highways in general."

"More and more we are talking about alternative fuels: electricity, gas, and so on, and so on. But we must all understand that it will not be cheaper. Today we must think about what we should use to maintain and build highways, because today gas and electricity do not have an excise tax," he said.

According to him, either the state will have to conduct an excise tax and include road tolls in the cost of alternative fuels, which will equalize their price with gasoline, or "the whole world will think about a radical reform of payments and fees for the use of highways in general."

Speaking about the reform of fees, he explained that we are talking about the format of kilometer-by-kilometer fees and payments for road users.
