OREANDA-NEWS  The gas company Qazaq Gaz has offered Gazprom to consider the possibility of creating a new transit gas pipeline on the route from Russia to China, which could also be involved in the gasification of the east of the republic, said Deputy Chairman of the Board of Qazaq Gaz Arman Kasenov.

"On the issue of gasification of the East: we have proposed to Gazprom a new transit route through the territory of East Kazakhstan (to China - ed.), which will cover a number of regions. It is being worked out, we have already carried out technical and economic calculations," he said on Friday at a meeting of the public council of the national welfare fund "Samruk-Kazyna" (a shareholder of Qazaq Gaz).

"At the moment, such a proposal has been made, fixed by the roadmap between the government of Kazakhstan, economic entities, is under consideration by Gazprom," the company's representative added.

According to Kasenov, the new gas pipeline will be an analogue of "the current successful Asian gas pipeline project, which ensures both the fulfillment of transit tasks and the gasification of the domestic market."

At the same time, according to him, gasification of the north and east of Kazakhstan in the near future with its own gas resources is not possible. "Therefore, we are counting on the newly created conditions for the possible import of Russian gas," he concluded.

Qazaq Gaz is a vertically integrated national gas company of Kazakhstan, operating along the entire chain from exploration and production to the sale of final products.
