OREANDA-NEWS. Iran believes that Russia will continue to interact with him in the work at the nuclear facility in Fordo, despite the restoration of US sanctions. This was stated on Monday by the official representative of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (OAEI) Behruz Kamalvandi.
"We believe that Russia, despite the abolition of exceptions to US sanctions, will not abandon work on the project", ISNA quoted him as saying. Kamalvandi noted that Moscow "continues to participate in the construction of the second and third power units at the Bushehr nuclear power plant. According to him, "from a technical point of view, Iran is ready to continue to carry out work related to stable isotopes without Russia". "Of course, from a political point of view, it would be better if Moscow continues to cooperate with us", the representative of the AEOI added.
On November 6, Iran began pumping gas into centrifuges at a facility in Fordo as part of the next phase of reducing its voluntary obligations under a nuclear deal. In this regard, the United States announced the restoration of sanctions on December 15 against this facility.
