OREANDA-NEWS. An item similar to a fuel rod from a nuclear power plant was discovered in southern Japan. This was announced on Tuesday by a Japanese news agency. It's noted that the find was made in the small town of Miyakojima in the southernmost prefecture of Okinawa.
This item was accidentally found on the street by a local resident. The authorities of the prefecture immediately called to the place of the find a group of specialists from the local garrison of self-defense forces. They took measurements and found no signs of increased background radiation. The authorities can not yet answer the question of where this subject came from, which will be subjected to thorough research. Okinawa Prefecture, unlike other parts of Japan, has no nuclear power plants.
Earlier it was reported that Japan intends to start dumping water into the Pacific Ocean, which was used to cool damaged reactors at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant.
