OREANDA-NEWS The Russian authorities have planned to build 11 new nuclear power plants (NPP) in the country. According to the draft general layout of electric power facilities, they should appear before 2042, the radio station "Says Moscow" reports.

By 2036, the project explains, the installed capacity of all Russian nuclear power plants should reach 34,576 megawatts. New nuclear power plants are planned to be built in the Rostov, Sverdlovsk, Tomsk and Chelyabinsk regions, in the Krasnoyarsk, Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories, as well as in Chukotka and Yakutia. Power units with a new type of VVER-TOI reactors will be installed at future nuclear power plants.

At the end of June, Russia and Uzbekistan signed a protocol on the entry into force of an agreement on the construction of a six-unit low-power nuclear power plant. The work should begin in the autumn. First, there will be a town of builders and the necessary infrastructure.
