The Hungarian authorities will veto any EU initiative related to limiting the import of Russian energy resources, Gergely Guiyash, head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office, said on the air of the HirTV channel. He added that the EU has not adopted laws prohibiting payments for Russian gas in rubles.

Gouyash also said earlier that the European Union should not impose sanctions restricting the import of Russian oil and gas. According to him, the country will continue its line and will oppose the embargo on energy resources from Russia, as well as convince other EU members of this. The politician believes that the European Union should realize the negative consequences of this step and think about the bloc's economy.

The American edition of The New York Times wrote on April 29 that EU countries may approve a phased embargo on Russian oil early next week. The document is already in the process of being prepared by the European Commission, after which the signed directives will be submitted to the EU ambassadors for approval.
