German MP Said That "Nord Stream-2" is Necessary for Germany
OREANDA-NEWS. According to the statement of the deputy of the Berlin parliament from the party "Alternative for Germany" Gunnar Lindemann, the implementation of the project "Nord Stream - 2" is necessary for Germany.
In his opinion, if the government abandons the construction of the Russian gas pipeline and decides to switch to gas supplies from the United States, this will lead to a sharp increase in energy supply prices. And this, in turn, will hurt ordinary German citizens, whose incomes have already suffered due to restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Lindemann stated that only cheaper gas supplies from Russia can provide energy supply in the long term. This is exactly what his party has long called for. Germany needs Nord Stream 2. Because without Russian gas, the Germans will be in the dark, in every possible way.
Also, the German MP is concerned that electricity and energy in Germany is already twice as expensive as in other EU countries.
Nord Stream 2 is the construction of two gas pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The project is actively opposed by the United States, which is promoting its liquefied natural gas to the EU, as well as Ukraine and a number of European countries.
