German Environmental Organization Sues Nord Stream 2
OREANDA-NEWS. The German organization for the protection of the environment (DUH) has filed a lawsuit with the Hamburg Administrative Court challenging the German regulator's permission to build the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. This is stated in the statement of the organization itself.
DUH is reported to be regularly criticizing the pipeline and its constructing, and initiating legal proceedings over the project.
The statement reads: "The German environmental organization filed a lawsuit today against the accelerated continuation of the Nord Stream 2 construction. The lawsuit in the Hamburg Administrative Court is against the permit for construction work during the sensitive nesting period of birds, issued by the Federal Office for Shipping and Hydrography (BSH) ".
According to the organization, the lawsuit was filed after BSH rejected DUH's protest against the building permit. "DUH considers BSH's permission for further construction from January 2021 to be inappropriate: the needs for the organization said:" Nord Stream 2 "is not, the consequences for climate goals (climate policy goals) are ignored, the impact on seabirds and porpoises based on irrelevant data is ignored.
