OREANDA-NEWS Gazprom supplies gas through Ukraine in the volume confirmed by the Ukrainian side through the Sudzha gas measuring station (GIS) – 42.4 million cubic meters as of October 18, the application for GIS Sokhranovka was rejected, the official representative of the Russian company Sergey Kupriyanov said.

Gazprom supplies Russian gas for transit through the territory of Ukraine in the amount confirmed by the Ukrainian side through GIS Sudzha – 42.4 million cubic meters as of October 18. The application for GIS Sokhranovka has been rejected," he told reporters.

The current pumping maximum this year is 42.5 million cubic meters.

In May 2022, Ukraine stopped accepting gas for transit through the Sokhranovka GIS, citing the fact that it is under the control of Russian forces (on the territory of the LPR). As a result, there is only one entrance left for gas transit to Europe – GIS Sudzha in the Kursk region. Gazprom stated that transferring all volumes to Suja is technologically impossible.

At the same time, the transit agreement between Gazprom and Ukraine assumes that the guaranteed daily volume of pumping (from both sides) from 2021 is 109.6 million cubic meters.
On August 6, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine went on the offensive to seize territory in the Kursk region, their advance was stopped, said Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He stressed that the operation in the Kursk region will be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the state border.
The supply route through the Sudzha gas measuring station in the Kursk region is now the only one for gas transit from Russia through Ukraine to Europe. Gazprom supplied about 15 billion cubic meters of gas last year, which accounted for 4.5% of total consumption in the EU.
