OREANDA-NEWS There is only one entrance left for the transit of Russian gas to Europe via Ukraine, Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov told Rossiya 24 TV channel. Through the Sohranivka and Novopskov stations, gas no longer enters the gas transmission system by decision of Kyiv, which significantly reduces the reliability of gas supply to the region.
According to the Federal Network Agency, the volume of gas entering Germany through Ukraine decreased by almost 25% in a day. Berlin is forced to compensate for the shortage with supplies from Norway and the Netherlands.
The GTS Operator of Ukraine (OGTSU) has stopped pumping fuel through the gas measuring station (GIS) Sokhranivka and Novopskov since May 11. Because of this, according to the Ukrainian operator, the transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory may fall by 18% from Wednesday, in physical terms, this is about 18.2 billion cubic meters. The day before, the department announced the termination of the transit of fuel allegedly due to force majeure and - these stations are located on the territory controlled by Russia in the LPR.
According to the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, Russia has fulfilled and will continue to fulfill its contractual obligations for the supply of "blue fuel". At the same time, he noted that Moscow still has not received an explanation from Ukraine regarding force majeure with gas transit.
