OREANDA-NEWS In early January, Gazprom brought daily gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline to a fundamentally new level stipulated by the agreement for 2024, and on January 2, supplies updated the historical daily record, the company reported on the Telegram channel.
"In early January, Gazprom brought daily gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline to a fundamentally new level stipulated by the agreement for 2024," the company said in a statement.
Moreover, on January 2, this new level was exceeded and Gazprom updated the historical record of daily exports of pipeline gas to Chinese consumers, the company also reported.
The supplies are carried out within the framework of a bilateral long-term gas purchase and sale agreement between Gazprom and the Chinese company CNPC.
Daily records of gas supplies throughout 2023 via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline indicate China's interest in pipeline gas from Russia and Gazprom's reliability as a supplier, the Russian gas company said.
"In addition to the annual increase in supplies stipulated in the agreement, Gazprom regularly provided daily supplies in excess of contractual obligations. New daily records were recorded during the year. This indicates China's interest in Russian pipeline gas and Gazprom's reliability as a supplier and partner," the company said in a statement.
Gazprom delivered 22.7 billion cubic meters of gas to China by the end of 2023, 700 million cubic meters higher than contractual obligations and one and a half times more than in 2022, the company said.
