OREANDA-NEWS Gazprom plans to preserve equipment at the Portovaya and Slavyanskaya compressor stations that pumped gas into the Nord Stream gas pipeline system, Kommersant has learned.
After the conservation, all the equipment will remain at the stations, the company will not transport it to other sites, the source of the publication said. If necessary, it can be put into operation in a short time, he explained.
Sergey Kondratiev from the Institute of Energy and Finance called the conservation a logical step, since the restoration of the efficiency of the "Northern Streams" is unlikely to begin in the near future. The transfer of equipment to other compressor stations is not relevant, because unique gas pumping units are used at Portovaya. Kondratiev estimates the cost of conservation at 2-3 billion rubles.
Large-scale destruction on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 became known at the end of September, after which it became clear that explosions were recorded in the area of leaks. One of the threads of the Nord Stream-2 remained intact, but its launch is unlikely, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
