OREANDA-NEWS. Gazprom head Alexei Miller and German Federal Government Commissioner for gas transit through Ukraine, Georg Graf Waldersee, discussed the interaction of the Russian company and Ukraine in the gas sector since 2020. This is stated in the message of Gazprom.
Miller drew attention to the fact that before concluding a new transit contract, a number of fundamental issues must be resolved. The first is the settlement of legal disputes between Gazprom and Naftogaz, the mutual rejection of claims and the termination of litigation on contracts for the supply and transit of Russian gas, as well as restoring the balance of commercial interests of the parties. "We are also talking about canceling the decision of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine on imposing a fine on Gazprom for allegedly abusing its monopoly position in the gas transit market of Ukraine and restoring the company's violated property rights in the country", the statement said.
The current ten-year contract for gas transit through Ukraine expires on December 31, 2019. Moscow and Kiev are negotiating the fate of gas transit through Ukraine. Russia proposes to nullify mutual claims on the gas dispute, while Gazprom is ready to lower gas supply tariffs. As a fallback, Moscow is ready to extend the transit agreement for 2020.
