OREANDA-NEWS  Gazprom has prematurely brought daily gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia to the maximum contractual level, the company's press service reports. Previously, it was expected that the pipeline would be brought to a design capacity of 38 billion cubic meters of gas in 2025.

It is noted that Gazprom managed to increase the indicator from December 1 "in accordance with the request of the Chinese side and the signed agreement," and by the end of 2024, "gas supplies through the Power of Siberia will exceed Gazprom's contractual obligations for this year."

"We see the demand for Russian gas in the growing Chinese market and the important role that Russian gas plays for stable energy supply to the Chinese economy," said Alexey Miller, the head of the Russian company, according to whom Gazprom supplies the volumes of this type of fuel necessary for partners, even when they exceed contractual obligations.

Earlier it became known that Gazprom increased gas supplies to China by 37 percent in eight months of 2024, and at the end of January 2027, gas to China will go along the "Far Eastern" route, the construction of which, as Miller noted, is strictly on schedule.
