OREANDA-NEWS The operational reserve in Russian underground gas storage facilities (UGS) by the beginning of the 2024-2025 selection season will be a record, amounting to 73.034 billion cubic meters, Gazprom said.
"Gazprom is currently completing the formation of an operational gas reserve in Russian UGS. By the beginning of the 2024/2025 selection season, it will amount to 73.034 billion cubic meters. This will be a new record for the Russian gas industry," the company said in a statement.
And the potential maximum daily storage capacity, as noted, will be maintained at the record level reached in 2023 – 858.8 million cubic meters. At the same time, taking into account Gazprom's UGS in Belarus and Armenia, the operational gas reserve will amount to 74.281 billion cubic meters, and the capacity will be 898.8 million cubic meters per day.
The company clarifies that this year the traditional diagnostics and repair of facilities, as well as filling of UGS were carried out against the background of increased demand for gas. During the summer, Gazprom regularly provided consumers with record volumes of gas. In June, July and August, the maximum daily gas supplies from the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia for these months were updated 15 times. Including on August 23, an absolute historical record of summer daily gas supplies was set – 701.8 million cubic meters.
Gazprom carried out the entire planned complex of scheduled maintenance and repair works in preparation for autumn-winter operation. As of October 1, planned preventive repairs at 100 gas production facilities were fully completed in the country. 290 kilometers of the linear part of the gas pipelines, 196 gas pumping units and 64 gas distribution stations have been repaired. In-line diagnostics of more than 28 thousand kilometers of gas pipelines has been performed.
The relevant divisions, subsidiaries and organizations of the Gazprom Group at the meeting of the company's management Board were instructed to complete the preparation of facilities for autumn-winter operation on time and ensure reliable and uninterrupted operation of production facilities, the company concluded.
