OREANDA-NEWS The Kazakh company QazaqGaz and the Russian Gazprom held talks and agreed on a scheme for possible gasification of the northern and eastern regions of the republic. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev, reports TASS.
The parties approved preliminary routes of new gas pipelines from Russia, thanks to which Kazakh consumers will be able to receive fuel. At the same time, as Satkaliyev stressed, Moscow agreed to make gas prices for Kazakhstan several times lower than for Europe, and even Belarus will buy fuel more expensive.
The Minister did not rule out that in the future some gas pipelines may be extended to China, but so far it is only about the gasification of Kazakhstan. Earlier, the former head of the Department of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov noted that an alternative to supplies from Russia in the issue of gasification of the east of the country could be a gas pipeline on the route Kostanay — Astana — Pavlodar — Semey — Ust-Kamenogorsk. However, it would require investments and an increase in gas tariffs for the population.
Earlier it was reported that the State Duma is considering the possibility of changing gas tariffs for commercial consumers in Russia to compensate for financial losses from falling supplies to Europe. Until 2022, Gazprom received four times more money from export deliveries than on the domestic market.
