OREANDA-NEWS  Gazprom continues to supply gas for transit through Ukraine through the Sudzha gas measuring station in the volume confirmed by the Ukrainian side: as of August 16 – 42.4 million cubic meters, which corresponds to the usual levels of July and early August, follows from the message of the official representative of the company Sergey Kupriyanov.

Gazprom supplies Russian gas for transit through the territory of Ukraine in the amount confirmed by the Ukrainian side through GIS Sudzha – 42.4 million cubic meters as of August 16. The application for GIS "Sokhranovka" has been rejected," he told reporters.

Since the beginning of the year, pumping has been above 40 million cubic meters per day, but from August 7 to August 12 it stayed slightly below this mark. The current pumping maximum this year is 42.5 million cubic meters.

In May 2022, Ukraine stopped accepting gas for transit through the Sokhranovka GIS, citing the fact that it is under the control of Russian forces (on the territory of the LPR). As a result, there is only one entrance left for gas transit to Europe – GIS Suja. Gazprom stated that transferring all volumes to Suja is technologically impossible. At the same time, the transit agreement between Gazprom and Ukraine assumes that the guaranteed daily volume of pumping (from both sides) from 2021 is 109.6 million cubic meters.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, said last Wednesday that on August 6 at 5.30, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine numbering up to a thousand people went on the offensive to seize territory in the Kursk region, their advance deep into the territory of the Russian Federation was stopped. He stressed that the operation in the Kursk region will be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the state border.

The supply route through the Sudzha gas measuring station in the Kursk region is now the only one for gas transit from Russia through Ukraine to Europe. Gazprom supplied about 15 billion cubic meters per year last year, which accounted for 4.5% of total consumption in the EU.
