OREANDA-NEWS The supply of natural gas to Armenia was temporarily stopped due to repairs on the transit main gas pipeline "North Caucasus - Transcaucasia" in Georgia, the press service of Gazprom Armenia reported. Restoration work is being carried out on March 18 from 09:00 to 18:00 on the Kazakh — Saguramo section, the statement says.
During this time, consumers in Armenia will receive uninterrupted gas without restrictions due to internal reserves and additional supplies from Iran, the press service said.
Gazprom is the only supplier of natural gas to Armenia. Gazprom Armenia CJSC is the operator of the gas transportation network. This company is wholly owned by a Russian concern. The gas supplied from Iran is used only as part of the Gas-for-Electricity program. According to it, Armenia receives gas from Iran, processes it into electricity and exports it to Iran at the rate of 3 kW.hours per 1 cubic meter of gas. Power plants based on 1 cubic meter of natural gas from Iran produce 4-4.5 kW.However, the surplus remains in Armenia.
