OREANDA-NEWS. The volume of electricity supplies from Russia abroad in January–June 2020 fell by 45.7 % compared to the same period in 2019, to 5.29 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), the Federal Customs Service reported.

Exports in monetary terms amounted to 208.5 million US dollars. In June, the volume of supplies amounted to 980.4 million kWh (36.9 million dollars). The deliveries in the first month of summer increased in comparison with sales in May by 68.7 %.

Electricity imports in the first half of the year amounted to 634.5 million kWh (11.9 million dollars), which is 24.6 % less than in the same period in 2019. In June, 111.6 million kWh were supplied to Russia from abroad, which is 6.7 % less than the volume of May supplies.

The operator of export-import from the Russian Federation is PJSC Inter RAO. The company previously did not rule out a 50 % decrease in supplies abroad in 2020 amid an abnormally warm winter and coronavirus pandemic.
