OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus continues supplying electricity to Ukraine under the contract signed for November, Belenergo, the Belarusian state-run company, said on Tuesday.

"Belarus continues electricity supplies to Ukraine under the contract signed for November. The exports are carried out in accordance with the obligations specified in the contract," the company said in a statement on its Telegram channel. It explains that Belenergo's earlier letter to the media about the change in the terms of cooperation was sent to specific companies that are not scheduled to receive electricity supplies in November 2021.

Ukraine resumed electricity imports from Belarus on 6 November, then at 5MWh. In two days, the country increased electricity imports from Belarus to 400MWh. However, the Ukrainian newspaper Ekonomna Pravda reported on Monday that energy market players received a letter from Belenergo on 8 November about stopping electricity supplies, in particular, NAEC Enerhoatom received it.

Earlier, Ukrenergo announced auctions for electricity imports due to the expiration of the ban on such imports, which was extended by the National Commission of Ukraine, which carries out state regulation in the energy and utilities sector, until 31 October. "Energoatom last week booked almost all interstate power line capacity for November from Belarus. At the same time, eight Ukrainian companies bought 2,200 MW of available capacity to import electricity from Russia in November.

According to the Belarusian Energy Ministry, Belarusian electricity began to flow into the Ukrainian energy system on 6 November in accordance with the signed contract; supplies will be carried out throughout November. According to the ministry, the supply schedule was drawn up by the Belarusian side taking into account the available technical capabilities: the operating conditions of the energy system and the capacity of the generating equipment.
