OREANDA-NEWS. Minsk has calculations for compensation for dirty oil from the Russian Federation and hopes for clarity on this issue in the near future. The Prime Minister of Belarus Sergey Rumas told reporters on Friday about it, the correspondent of the Russian media reports. “Dirty oil has been put outside the brackets of roadmaps. Work on it continues on a separate track”, said Rumas. “We have calculations for compensation, but we would not want to give numbers so as not to complicate the negotiations. We hope that in the near future then there will be clarity in this matter".
On April 19, Belorussian concern Belneftekhim announced a sharp deterioration in the quality of oil coming from Russia via the Druzhba pipeline, which provides oil supplies to Belarusian refineries and its transit to Europe through Belarus, Poland and Ukraine. Transit and oil refining were stopped, then restored. Minsk and Moscow in May began at the intergovernmental level to discuss compensation for losses to Minsk from the supply of substandard oil from the Russian Federation. Belarus claims compensation for direct and indirect losses. Transneft will compensate for damage due to oil pollution.
