OREANDA-NEWS. At the Ust-Srednekan HPP, the construction of which is being carried out by RusHydro in the Magadan Region, construction personnel have completed installation of the embedded parts of Hydroelectric Unit No. 3 under the supervision of Power Machines engineers and technicians, (Power Machines being supplier of hydropower equipment). Embedded parts are stationary elements of the hydro turbine equipment which are grouted after installation and are not to be dismantled subsequently (intake aspiration tunnel cone, turbine stator, scroll, turbine pit).

At the present time, the scroll has been assembled, welding operations are underway. After inspecting the quality of the work done, the construction team of AO Ust-SrednekanGESstroy (general contractor) will proceed to grout the scroll. To do that, the construction crew will require on the order of 3 thous. m³ of concrete. After the concrete work is complete, erection of the key hydroturbine components is due to get underway, i.e. the runner and the turbine wicket gate.

The contract with Power Machines calls for the company to deliver to the Ust-Srednekan HPP the 142.5 MW capacity hydroturbine, a generator set with the excitation system as well the automatic control system of the hydroelectric unit. Most of the components have already been delivered to the Magadan Region, including the runner of the hydroturbine. The customer who commissioned the construction of Ust-Srednekan HPP is planning on completing delivery of the equipment by the end of 2016 and placing Hydroelectric Unit No. 3 into operation by the year 2018.
