IDGC of Centre Continues to Prepare for Operation During Cold Weather Period
The repair program for the power company is one of the key measures of preparation for winter. In total for 2016 IDGC of Centre plans to carry out comprehensive repair of 185 substations of 35-110 kV, maintenance of 4,521 transformer substations of 0.4-10 kV and more than 16 thousand km of overhead and cable power lines of 0.4-110 kV. The company has already completed the bulk of the work.
Based on the last year’s experience of the operation through the maximum load period, in preparation for the current autumn-winter period, IDGC of Centre places particular emphasis on improving the reliability of overhead power lines (Conductors). An important component of this work is clearing and expansion of ROWs along power lines from tree and shrub vegetation. In 2016 the company has planned to clear 11,288 thousand hectares and expand 2,821 thousand hectares of ROWs of overhead lines. The bulk of this work has also been completed.
Implementation of measures to improve the operational and technological management of the electric grid infrastructure is underway, which allows, in particular, to ensure faster response to process disturbances. Formed in the branches of IDGC of Centre 441 first responding mobile crews and 90 emergency and restoration crews of increased mobility are ready to eliminate them. The increased mobility crews are ready at any time to go to elimination of an emergency situation in any region of Russia, they are staffed by highly qualified professionals, who have received additional training, as well as all necessary equipment and machinery.
Emergency response training of the operational staff plays an essential role in ensuring stable passage of the upcoming period of peak loads. In 2016, in order to develop skills for dealing with emergencies in the structural units of IDGC of Centre it is planned to hold 147 trainings with the operational staff, including 11 joint comprehensive exercises with the regional offices of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and local authorities.
The company’s emergency reserve is currently stocked at 99% already. The fleet of reserve sources of power supply includes 567 units of mobile and stationary diesel generator sets, with a total capacity of 20.14 MW, and 2,493 off-road and special vehicles. All the equipment has already passed the maintenance and is ready for use during the autumn-winter period.
