On the second of June in Belgorod, on the site of the sports facility of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, the VII Summer Games of IDGC of Centre were opened. About 400 strongest athletes-power engineers from 11 branches and the executive office of the company are participating in the annual sporting event. For two days 78 prizes in eight sports will be played: volleyball, mini-football, table tennis, chess, athletics, swimming, shooting and weightlifting.

On behalf of the regional government the power engineers-athletes on the Belgorod land, the birthplace of the Olympic champions Svetlana Khorkina, famous volleyball players Sergey Tetyukhin, Dmitry Musersky, Taras Khtey and Dmitry Ilyin, were greeted by Deputy Governor of the Belgorod region Oleg Abramov. He noted that honest and uncompromising competition will be aimed at training the best human qualities, and be sure the friendship will win.

Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division director Sergey Demidov also wished sports victories and achievements to all the participants. This year the Sports Games of IDGC of Centre are taking place under the motto "Sport - the energy of the good". Funds, planned by the primary trade union organization of the Company for the purchase of prizes for winners of the Games, will be spent on construction of a covered outdoor area for activities for the state budgetary institution for orphans and children left without parental care "Stary Oskol development and socialization centre for sporty children "Start".

Currently, the Development Centre takes care of 56 children. In the last 2-3 years the institution became sports focused, creating the most comfortable conditions for children to do sports.
