AVEVA Enhances Educational Opportunities at the Eaton Experience Center – Houston with Digital Walk-Through of Expanded Facility
Working with local service providers, AVEVA captured laser scans of the Experience Center and consolidated the data to develop the Digital Asset, which is accessible to visitors through tablet devices or desktop computers. AVEVA is providing secure, on-demand access to the laser scans via LFM NetView, allowing visitors to view a survey-accurate virtual representation of the experience center.
“The Eaton Experience Center – Houston provides a multitude of hands-on training experiences in application environments, including a petrochemical refinery, an upstream drilling and production rig, and a power quality lab with real-time demonstrations,” said Patrik Edahl, senior vice president, Regional Operations Americas, AVEVA. “The Digital Asset of the facility makes it possible for visitors to interact with each area of the facility in a virtual, three-dimensional environment, and further highlights Eaton’s products and services in each location.”
The Digital Asset is part of a broader upgrade of the Experience Center’s industrial application solutions. In March 2016, the facility launched a simulated upstream drilling and production rig, hands-on lab, power quality lab, and pump jack demonstrations, expanding hands-on capabilities and live product training opportunities from power generation to consumption.
“AVEVA’s leading engineering software is a unique solution and an excellent complement to the demonstrations available throughout the Experience Center,” said Allan Clark, manager, Houston Experience Center, Eaton. “The digital walk-through showcases both Eaton’s products and AVEVA’s solutions in a real-world, hands-on learning environment.”
The Eaton Experience Center – Houston’s 14,000 square foot simulated petrochemical refinery and power distribution grid features more than 8,000 products installed in applications from upstream to midstream to downstream. The interactive environment is divided into process and containment areas that allow visitors to experience a wide range of oil and gas training opportunities for hazardous and non-hazardous applications. The facility’s mock refinery gives visitors access to live demonstrations of difficult-to-reach oil and gas applications both offshore and land-based.
