Eaton Launches New Molded Case Circuit Breaker Authentication Tool during National Electrical Safety Month
OREANDA-NEWS. Power management company Eaton today announced it is recognizing National Electrical Safety Month with the launch of its upgraded Molded Case Circuit Breaker authentication tool, now accessible via Eaton’s PowerEdge mobile app. With the click of a button, customers can now detect if Eaton molded case circuit breakers (MCCBs), up to 400 amperes, are counterfeit.
The latest version of the tool now gives customers the power to authenticate their devices through the convenience of a mobile app. Targeting the latest generation of technology users, customers can use the app to instantly determine the authenticity of Eaton’s MCCBs by scanning the QPC Code from the product label. Specifically, the tool can promptly display Series C® and Series G® molded case circuit breaker commercial product information with access to product-specific information, product authentication and a distributor locator function.
“As counterfeiters become more sophisticated, it becomes more difficult to detect counterfeit products in the marketplace, making it critical for industry professionals to have an accessible resource for authenticating their products,” said Tom Grace, brand protection manager, Eaton’s Electrical Sector. “Our upgraded tool can be used for far more than authentication. Accessible via mobile phones, now everyone along the supply chain can find product-specific information and more that was not possible before.”
Counterfeit products are often hard to detect because they use the trademark, service mark or copyright of trusted brands to deceive prospective customers into believing that a product is genuine. If undetected, these products can lead to costly repairs, property damage and even serious injury or death because they often are not properly manufactured or tested. Eaton’s upgraded tool allows industry professionals to take a proactive approach to safety and identify a counterfeit product before it is used.
“Paired with programs aimed at sourcing authentic products quickly and efficiently to authorized resellers, Eaton is making it easier for customers to avoid the safety risks that can result from mistakenly using counterfeits,” said Grace.
Eaton is committed to raising awareness of the risks and dangers that counterfeit products present. Its electrical business is committed to anti-counterfeiting technologies and programs. Eaton’s “Power of Authenticity” program allows authorized distributors to source and supply authentic products quickly and efficiently to electrical professionals. The program offers competitive prices, stocking programs, authorized service centers and loyalty programs, making it easy for distributors to purchase authentic devices.
