IV international investment forum “Karaganda Invest 2016” took place in Karaganda on April 27 2016. The memorandum of cooperation for implementation of the investment project “Coalbed Methane Exploration in Karaganda Coal Basin” has been signed.

A trilateral MoC has been signed by Akimat of Karaganda region, Karaganda State Technical University and JSC “KazTransGas”.

The meeting of Minister of investment and development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Albert Rau and Deputy Director General on Technical Policy of JSC “KazTransGas” Nurzhan Nurlanov took place in a plenary meeting of the Investment Promotion Board.

In the course of examination of the project on coalbed methane exploration they agreed to assist in searching for potential investors at the ministerial level. According to the document Ministry of Investment and Development shall render a legislative support in providing favorable conditions for investment of further implementation of the project. 

Deputy Director General on Technical Policy of JSC “KazTransGas” Nurzhan Nurlanov noted that the company performed great work in bed exploration and survey. Currently foreign laboratories carry out the analysis of produced samples and determine the gas level. After obtaining of results they will determine reserves and developed the feasibility study of the exploration. 

In the course of forum they noted about scientific maintenance of the program in coalbed methane exploration and production in Karaganda coal basin. There is good reason that the major part of scientific-research and coordination works has been trusted to Karaganda State Technical University. Scientists of the University are willing to develop perfect and safe methane exploration technologies, wide range of unique tools and equipment. To solve these tasks special scientific-technical center has been founded. 

- We have signed a very important memorandum with JSC “KazTransGas” and Karaganda State Technical University. Last year JSC “KazTransGas” performed unprecedented scope of works on exploration and survey. And this memorandum shall provide for further development as JSC “KazTransGas” is planning to finance the project. We believe that methane exploration has big perspective – noted Deputy Akim of Karaganda Region Anuar Akhmetzhanov.   

Deputy Akim also noted that the main purpose is gas production. There are many application methods. For example, gas can be burned at power plants and thus we can obtain energy or produce liquetied gas. In addition it will allow transferring gas in a pipeline for municipal needs to Astana.

Over thousand small and medium business representatives, national companies and public administration bodies as well as potential investors, i.e. far and near foreign guests attended the investment forum. 151 investment projects for total sum of 1.5 trillion tenge were presented in the course of forum.
