A power unit was turned off at the Rostov NPP due to an identified defect

OREANDA-NEWS Power unit No. 1 of the Rostov NPP was disconnected from the grid on Friday due to an identified defect on the turbine, Rosenergoatom concern reported on the Telegram channel.
"On the twenty-third of August, at 15.34, power unit No. 1 of the Rostov NPP was disconnected from the network by operational personnel due to the detection of a defect in the turbine steam extraction equipment," the message says.
"There are no violations of the limits and conditions of safe operation of the equipment... The radiation background at the nuclear power plant and in the area of its location has not changed, is at a level corresponding to normal operation, and does not exceed natural background values," the message emphasizes. After troubleshooting the turbine, the power unit will be prepared for connection to the grid and brought to its rated capacity, the concern notes.
"According to the System Operator of the South, as of 16.50, power supply has been fully restored after a short-term outage," the message says.
It is also noted that power units No. 3 and 4 are currently in operation at the Rostov NPP, power unit No. 2 will be put into scheduled repair from Saturday.
