Russia, India Preparing Agreement on Fifth, Sixth Units of Kudankulam NPP
OREANDA-NEWS Russia and India are working on agreements to build the fifth and sixth units of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant (NPP), Russian President Vladimir Putin said after talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The work on intergovernmental agreements on the fifth and sixth blocks of the Kudankulam NPP is underway,” the Russian leader said.
“Russia will continue to further provide assistance to Indian counterparts in developing atomic energy,” Putin said.
Earlier Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi inaugurated the construction of the third and fourth units of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant.
In December 2014, Moscow and New Delhi signed a document on strategic vision of serial construction of nuclear power units in India by using Russian technologies. The document outlines plans for the construction of more than 12 nuclear power units in India.
The Kudankulam NPP is the largest Russian-India project in the energy sector. The plant is being built in the south of India.
