OREANDA-NEWS. State-owned Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad licensed LyondellBasell's polyethylene technology for its new 400,000 t/yr high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit to be built in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia.

Lyondell's "Hostalen advanced cascade process" will be incorporated into the design of the new HDPE unit adjacent to Petronas' refining and chemical plant at the site.

The polyolefin unit is part of a larger 300,000 b/d refining project that is expected to start up in the first quarter of 2019.
