Marathon Petroleum Corp. appoints Rodney P. Nichols as executive vice president
OREANDA-NEWS. Marathon Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: MPC) today announced the appointment of Rodney P. Nichols, senior vice president, Human Resources and Administrative Services, to executive vice president, Human Resources, Health and Administrative Services, effective immediately.
Nichols will continue to have responsibility for leading MPC's Human Resources, Health Services, Administrative Services and Aviation organizations. He will continue to report to Gary R. Heminger, MPC chairman, president and CEO, and remain in Findlay.
"Rod has been instrumental in the growth and continued success of MPC," said Heminger. "His leadership in the creation of Marathon Ashland Petroleum, MPC's separation from Marathon Oil Corporation and the integration of MPC's acquisitions, including the Galveston Bay refinery, Hess' retail operations and MarkWest Energy Partners has transformed MPC into the company we are today. We are fortunate to have a leader with Rod's knowledge and experience as a member of our executive management team to guide our human resource and administrative functions."
Nichols began his career with MPC in 1977, as an employee relations representative in the Corporate Industrial Relations organization. After an assignment in the northeastern production district, Nichols served in a number of employee relations management positions in Alaska and Wyoming, as well as at the Garyville and Texas City refineries. He was named manager, Human Resources Refining, Marketing and Transportation in 1986, vice president, Human Resources and Administrative Services in 1998, and senior vice president, Human Resources and Administrative Services in 2012. Nichols holds a bachelor's degree in advertising and a master's degree in labor and industrial relations from Michigan State University.
