ENGIE renews its intermediate stop assistance contract with the Noumea airport
OREANDA-NEWS. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New Caledonia (CCI-NC), which manages the international airport of Noumea-La Tontouta, has awarded the public service concession for intermediate stop assistance at the Noumea international airport to ENGIE, through its subsidiary Pacific Airport ENGIE. The seven-year, €90 million contract covers all ground-based, aviation-related activities.
The intermediate stop assistance contract covers all aircraft and passenger support activities, including passenger registration, freight management, baggage handling (security, loading, unloading), aircraft cleaning, runway operations and catering (preparation, loading and unloading of meal trays, and onboard duty-free).
With nearly 500,000 passengers in 2015, New Caledonia’s international Noumea-La Tontouta airport, entirely refurbished in 2012, enjoys an expansion of air traffic, growing in 2015 by 3.8%. Pacific Airport ENGIE was awarded this contract thanks to the commitment of its 175 employees, the quality of its comprehensive range of services, recognized by the airlines that serve the airport, and to the consolidation of all its activities under one entity.
At the contract signing, Jennifer Seagoe, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New Caledonia, stated, "The CCI-NC is delighted with the renewal of this partnership that will serve to improve the platform’s operation, with the objective, shared by all, of enhancing passenger welfare."
In the words of François Laforest, Regional Director of Pacifique Ouest division within ENGIE France Reseaux, "The renewal of this contract attests to our experience providing integrated, custom-tailored services in a specific overseas context. ENGIE is proud to play a key role in this project of paramount importance to New Caledonia’s tourism development."
ENGIE provides innovative services to airports around the world
The Group currently services 34 airports around the world, including Washington D.C., Abu Dhabi, Cape Town, La Reunion and Singapore, and handles 40 million pieces of baggage. These airport services generate some €160 million in global revenues.
Against the background of increased air traffic (+100% by 2030, according to forecasts), airports are seeking to reduce their operations’ energy consumption and environmental footprint. ENGIE provides solutions that integrate design, supply, installation, commissioning and technical installation maintenance, in particular aeronautical control and aircraft circulation systems (including control tower, regional control center, navigation aids and telecommunications networks).
These activities address public and private airport operators and civil aviation control authorities, as well as airline companies and other stakeholders.
