ENGIE Hellas wins his largest contract for total facility management services in Greece
OREANDA-NEWS. ENGIE Hellas, a fully owned subsidiary of the French group ENGIE, has signed a total facility management contract for the new Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens. ENGIE Hellas will provide a whole range of services: technical maintenance, energy services, security services, cleaning & waste management and landscaping services. This represents the largest contract of this kind in Greece and is expected to create at least 250 new jobs, including subcontractors.
This 5-year partnership between ENGIE and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center will ensure the highest standards in energy efficiency for the SNFCC following its platinum LEED1 certification requirements which is the highest possible rating for environmentally conscious and sustainable buildings. ENGIE will also be responsible for the flawless operation and maintenance of the complex technical facilities of the SNFCC, some of which represent technological breakthroughs in the fields of acoustics, lighting and stage engineering. Furthermore, ENGIE will take care of the cleaning and the security of these magnificent facilities, and will be responsible for the upkeep of its unique park and gardens and the water management of the artificial canal.
Altogether, ENGIE will service 28,000 square meters (sqm) of the Greek National Opera building, which includes 2 stages, a dance school, rehearsal rooms, admin areas and other supporting facilities, the 23,000 sqm of the National Library of Greece and the 210,000 sqm of parks and gardens. ENGIE will also be in charge of the facility management of the 33,000 sqm car park.
ENGIE will bring to the SNFCC its long lasting experience in facility management of exceptional cultural centres, such as La Scala di Milano in Italy, the Paris Opera in France and the Sydney Opera in Australia.
The SNFCC was developed through an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop. The grant included the construction and complete outfitting of the new facilities for the National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera, as well as the creation of the Stavros Niarchos Park. The aim of the SNFCC is to become a urban, multifunctional complex for education, the arts and entertainment.
